These alternative disinfectants should be used according to the manufacturer’s instructions and in accordance with established wound care protocols.

When cleaning a wilderness wound, it is essential to use a sterile or antimicrobial solution, followed by a thorough rinse with sterile water. The wound should then be cleaned with a gentle scrub brush to remove debris and promote drainage. A sterile dressing or bandage should be applied to protect the wound from further contamination.
