How to Use Tarred Bankline for Building Animal Pens?

Preparing the Bankline

To begin, lay out a section of tarred bankline between two posts, overlapping the line by 6 inches. This overlap will provide added strength and weather resistance. Next, stretch the bankline tight and secure it using wooden pegs or stakes. Make sure the pegs or stakes are driven into the ground at an angle to prevent the line from working loose.

Building the Pen Frame

Continue laying out sections of tarred bankline, overlapping each section by 6 inches, to create the frame of the animal pen. Make sure the corners are secure and the line is tight. You can also use wooden stakes with notches to create a more secure connection between sections of bankline.

Securing the Pen Walls

To add walls to the pen, drive stakes into the ground at regular intervals and tie the tarred bankline to them using wooden pegs or cordage. Make sure the stakes are at least 12 inches deep to prevent them from being pulled out by the animals. You can also add additional support to the pen walls by driving stakes at an angle into the ground.
